Tencho Yordanov Derekyuvliev is a Bulgarian philologist. At the moment, he is teaching foreigners Bulgarian in the foreign language centre of the University of Food Technology Plovdiv. His scientific interests are in the field of historical linguistics, Bulgarian dialectology (synchronic and diachronic), lexicology and etymology. He is a laureate of the first prize in the Fifth students Olympiad in morphology of the modern Bulgarian language in 2003.
He is the author of the articles: ‘An attempt for systematization of the theme morphemes of the modern Bulgarian nouns’, ‘More specific linguistic peculiarities of the Tarlisko gospel’, ‘The anthroponym Miglena-aspects of the genesis and semantics’, ‘Antique home lexis of the Westrupies speech, registered in the Tarlisko gospel’, ‘Stayko Kabasanov – a creator of the Bulgarian linguistics’, ‘Structurally-semantic peculiarities of the participial forms with a final component –shtem’ (in press), ‘Symbolic functions of the folklore in the texts of Nicola Primovski’ (in press).
Tencho Derekjuvliev is a co-founder of Linguistic club ‘Prof. Boris Simeonov’ and among the initiators for the creating the dictionary of the Bulgarian linguistic terminology (with references in English, German, French, and Russian language). In 2003 created the project for the establishment of the academic issue ‘Vivat Philologia’, of which a few thematic issues have been released. The University of Plovdiv ‘Paisii Hilendarski’ newspaper published his interviews with representatives of the Bulgarian humanistics. A member of the project for creating the dictionary of the Bulgarian linguistic terminology (with references in English, German, French, and Russian language) and in the editors team of the collection of reports from the scientific conference (Plovdiv 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008): ‘Beyond Words: The Transformations of Speech’, ‘Speech – Images and Reflections’ and ‘Texts and Interpretations’.
