Svetlana Vladimirova Stamenova is a postgraduate student in ‘English Philology – Linguistics and Translation’ in the University of Plovdiv ‘Paisii Hilendarski’. She obtained her degree in 2004 with a dissertation titled ‘Definiteness in English Language and its translation equivalents in Bulgarian language’ (with a scientific advisor Assoc. prof. Krasimira Chakarova). At the moment she works in the ‘Maximum’ English school-Plovdiv as an English tutor. She has been a member of Linguistic club ‘Prof. Boris Simeonov’ since 2004. Her scientific interests are in the field of comparative linguistics. She won the first prize in the national scientific conference for students and PhD students of the University of Plovdiv ‘Paisii Hilendarski’ in 2005 with her report titled ‘Some Peculiarities of the Translation of Determined Nomonal Phrases ffom English into Bulgarian Language’ in the Linguistics section of the national scientific conference for students and PhD students organized by the University of Plovdiv ‘Paisii Hilendarski’ in 2005. This same report is published in the report collection ‘Beyond Words: The Transformations of Speech’ (Plovdiv, 2006, pp. 257-267). Takes part in the project for making the Dictionary of the Bulgarian linguistic terminology (with references in English, German, French, and Russian language).
