Deadline for submitting documents: (will be announced additionally for the 2026-2027 academic year)

What to expect:

  • A staff member from the Academic Department will review and accept your documents, then within one month will prepare and send them to the Ministry of Education and Science (Directorate of Higher Education) for approval.
  • The Ministry of Education and Science will review your documents within one month. If you receive approval, you will be issued a Certificate of Study in Bulgaria. If you are refused, no certificate will be issued.
  • Once the Certificate of Study in Bulgaria has been issued, the admission officer for foreign students will notify you that you can receive your certificate in person, through an authorized representative or scanned via email.
  • Submit the documents for issuing a type “D” visa to the diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Bulgaria in your country. You will also receive the visa itself from there. The visa issuance period in most countries is between one and three months, but please note that in some cases it may be longer.
  • After you receive a type “D” visa and arrive in the Republic of Bulgaria, you have to pay the fee for the first semester and you will be enrolled as a student in a one-year preparatory course in the Bulgarian language.
If you are fluent in Bulgarian, you will be enrolled in the first year of the chosen program.
  • The academic year begins on October 1, 2026.
Since the procedure for approving documents and obtaining a visa takes a long time, please note that it is advisable to submit the documents prepared according to the requirements in February-April 2026.
  • After completing the one-year preparatory course and successfully passing the exams in Bulgarian (level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and in the specialized disciplines, you will be enrolled as a foreign student in the first year of the chosen program.
